When most men begin planning a first date, they tend to settle with the tried and true dinner-and-a-movie type of night. There’s nothing wrong with that; in fact, it’s rather easy. The problem is, it’s not special or memorable. And don’t you want the first date with every woman you meet to be the best? You don’t want her to think you’re just the same as every other guy she’s been out with.
If you’re going to stand out in her mind, and stand a chance with her, you’ve got to pull out all the stops. That means using one of these first date ideas.
Take Her Bowling- While it may be old-school, taking her bowling is a brilliant first date idea. It allows the date to remain casual and reduces the amount of stress a first date usually causes. The two of you can grab a slice of pizza, a beer, and engage in just a little bit of friendly competition. You’ll have the chance to talk, have fun, and hopefully encourage her to go on a second date with you.
What You’ll Wear- For this date, you need to keep it casual, but that doesn’t mean you can’t look smart. If it’s cold outside, layer your look with a nice pair of chinos, a dress shirt, a v-neck knit, and a blazer or tweed jacket.
Go to the Theatre- Unlike watching a movie, going to the theatre is classy and sophisticated. Plus, it gives her a chance to put on a beautiful dress. There’s also generally an intermission or two, so the two of you will have the opportunity to chat and get to know each other.
What You’ll Wear- Most theatres have strict dress codes that you’ll have to adhere to. In most cases though you’ll stay within their guidelines and look amazing in dark men’s suits, a crisp white dress shirt, black Oxfords, and a black tie.
Visit an Art Gallery- Visiting an art gallery is a wonderful first date idea, especially if you are dating an artsy type of girl. You’ll be able to walk through, hand in hand, but you’ll also have plenty of time to chat and get to know her better. Before you visit, make sure to do a little research so you know what type of art gallery you’re taking her to.
What You’ll Wear- An art gallery visit certainly doesn’t call for suits, but it does demand a smart casual style. Wear chinos or trousers, subtly coloured knitwear, a tweed jacket, and a nice pair of loafers. You’ll maintain that casual vibe, but look sophisticated as well.
Geocaching- Geocaching is the latest craze and is similar to a scavenger hunt. However, instead of finding items on a list, you and your date can use a GPS device to locate the cache that has been hidden. Once you find it, you can take what is there, but only if you leave something of equal or greater value.
What You’ll Wear- Geocaching is not for those who are afraid to get messy. You may be led into the middle of a woods to find an item. Because of this, you’ll need to wear appropriate clothing. Boots, chinos, and a polo shirt will work, but grab your men’s tweed jacket as well in case you get cold (or she does.)
While these might not be your typically first date choices, they will sweep her off her feet. Why? Because they are unique, fun, and they show that you put some thought into how you wanted to spend the evening with her.
